How the Czech brand Design Ali was created

 

We would like to introduce you to the purely Czech brand "Design Ali". Here is our story…

And how did the brand actually come about? Spontaneously. Two friends went for coffee, one of them had a birthday and the other wanted to surprise her with an original gift. Managed! The gift was absolutely amazing, a handmade handbag. One that no one has, and we women like it. This is where an idea was born that did not let one of my friends sleep peacefully. For some time they just talked about it, discussed why yes and why not.... and then it really started to form!

Why the name Design Ali? One of the friends who made the wonderful gift is called Alice. Step by step, she began to develop her work in a small workshop in South Moravia in Ratiškovice with the support of those closest to her. At first it was created just for fun, for friends and close ones.

The goal was to create things that are not only beautiful and functional, but also environmentally friendly! We were looking for suitable materials and then it happened... we discovered washable paper! If you want Kraft tex, vegan leather, Wash paper, Snapp pap - there are a lot of different names for this material. From the beginning, we didn't know what to expect from him, a bit of mistrust, after all, it's "just" paper! Like the others, we didn't know him either, it was new for us and all the more exciting. We felt that this could and should be our path! In 3 years true love was born! We discovered its wonderful properties. And to top it all off, it's a design issue that few can resist. It's like a message from a well-known advertisement... when you love, there's nothing to solve!

 

Washable paper is currently the basis of our creations. This is the handmade production of handbags, bags, backpacks, accessories or home accessories. We offer our products on our e-shop www.design-ali.cz and cooperate with 18 brick-and-mortar stores in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We are preparing further cooperation not only in the Czech Republic, but also abroad. We would like to bring washable paper as close as possible to the general public for its amazing useful properties, but also for its already mentioned originality. The products are intended for all those who love nature and exceptional style. Our motto is: "The detail matters"

And we'll tell you a little more about that paper. Washable paper/Kraft Tex is made from natural cellulose fibers that are produced from waste wood, so the whole production process is environmentally friendly! It is recyclable, lightweight, abrasion resistant, tensile strength and dimensionally stable, so it does not stretch or shrink. At first glance it looks like leather, with wear and continuous maintenance it acquires a characteristic patina. Kraft-Tex, or washable paper in Czech, is referred to as "ECO-friendly".

Kraft-Tex is manufactured in Europe. What certificates does it have? OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate and FSC certificate. It is therefore accredited by both the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC® C139589 and C133304) and Oeko-Tex, professional bodies that ensure the material is responsibly sourced and produced, it is also recognized as an animal-friendly material and a viable alternative to many leather products.
